MANILA – Singer-comedienne K Brosas opened up about her struggles with chronic anxiety disorder in her latest Facebook live video, encouraging those with the same mental illness to seek help.

For nearly seven minutes, the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” judge recalled how she found out about her condition, as well as her treatment process.

“Twelve years ago, naging laman po ako ng mga emergency rooms,” she said.

So sinabi sa akin, ‘I think you need to see a psychiatrist,’” she added. “So ‘yun po ang ginawa ko… so ang sakit ko pala ay meron akong chronic anxiety disorder due to suppressed depression.”

Brosas said she has been taking anti-depressants for years, adding that she is still suffering from the condition. “Actually, sa ‘Showtime’ nga inatake ako recently. Pero dahil may gamot na ako lagi, alam ko na [ang gagawin],” she said.

The comedienne went on to stress the importance of getting professional help for anxiety disorder, saying self-diagnosis and self-medication might make things worse.

Walang masamang humingi ng tulong,” she said.

Brosas shared her live video after she revealed on “Tawag ng Tanghalan” that she is struggling with anxiety disorder.

“Ngayon ko lang ito aaminin sa telebisyon… Meron po akong anxiety disorder for ten years. Alam ko what you’re going through,” she told a contestant who seems to be going through an anxiety attack.

HOW TO DEAL WITH ANXIETY.

Patuloy ng komedyana, “For almost how many years, nag-anti-depressant po ako, umiinom po ako ng pampakalma.

“Hanggang ngayon po, I’m still suffering.

“Kung meron kayong anxiety disorder at nakakaramdam kayo lagi, ha, hindi lang once, you have to see a doctor.

“I-Google niyo lahat ‘yan, i-type n’yo lang ‘how to deal with anxiety.’

“So, nagsimula sa akin as a depression.

“Kasi sixty-five percent nari-reduce yung anxiety, nare-relax yun.

“Music yun.

MENTAL HEALTH IS IMPORTANT.

“Kaya huwag tayong mag-self-diagnose, huwag pong ganun, self-medicate.

“Again, tulong ng mga close friends, just a few trusted friends, masaya ‘yan. Makakaya niyo ‘to.

“Kaya naman sana naibsan kayo and, again, laughter is still the best medicine.”
